The global population is expected to reach 10 billion people by 2050 and current livestock production methods are unsustainable. This growing crisis has fostered new ways of producing protein that do not come from the slaughtering of animals. These proteins are called “Alternative Proteins”, or “Alt Proteins” and they encompass many innovative and novel technologies. This presentation will discuss the environmental benefit of Alt Proteins, the different categories, and products available now – and those we’ll see in the future.  You’ll leave with a solid foundation of the emerging Alt Protein movement.


Mary Finckenor MA, RD, CDE, BC-ADM, CSSD, CCRP is registered dietitian with a master’s degree in Nutrition Education and specialty certifications in diabetes and sports dietetics.  

Mary currently works as the dietitian and diabetes educator at the Cardiac Rehabilitation at Morristown Medical Center and is a dietary consultant with Atlantic Health System’s Sports Medicine, Corporate Health and Executive Health Programs. She is an Element Specialist Dietitian with the Virtual Ornish Lifestyle Medicine Program.

For over a decade she has given hundreds of programs on dozens of topics. She has presented at numerous national, state, and local conferences and is a sought-after speaker for corporations in the greater New York metropolitan area.
